Cook County (Chicago) Deeds
Generally, how long does it take for a Quit Claim Deed to be filed in Cook County? I've been working with a company for over six weeks now and I'm still waiting for a deed.
What do you mean when you say you have been working with a company? Did you buy a property using a QCD? Did you send in the QCD for recording or did the company?
Marie - The Deed is filed "technically" when it is "STAMPED" by the Recorder of Deeds. This happens when the document and the fee are accepted by the clerk. Bring multiple copies with you, and they should stamp one and give it back to you for your records.
How long it takes for them to enter it into their system.. now that is another story. But if you have the STAMPED copy (this means date/time stamp) that is all you need to be legal.
SO did you pay someone to record a deed?? Is that the issue here?
Perhaps Marie closed on a property and sent the deed to the county via her attorney or title company?
If that's the case, it's usually much quicker (instantaneous in some cases) to deliver the deed personally to the county recorder's office and get it stamped/recorded over the counter. I do this on every closing.
