Lawyer Is requiring me to use a title co he uses

I emailed my lawyer a few days after retaining him asking which title company he recommends and that I’m shopping around for quotes. He responds to me by saying that they require me to use a company that they work with. Is this normal? I’m shopping around and prices are much lower than what he is telling me they’ll charge.

He said if I don’t use the title company he requires then they can’t represent me... that alone pissed me off but I also want to get this deal done with ASAP.

I read the retainer agreement and it does state that they’ll hire a title company of their choosing on my behalf.

Even though I only retained this lawyer less than a week ago, we already got the inspection done, and basically just waiting for the appraisal and cco to close.

What should I do?
