Charged both facilitation fee and commission for sale in Georgia
Hi BP,
This question might reveal what a newb I am.... but anyway.
I'm selling a place in Atlanta GA for $122k. The settlement statement includes:
- facilitation fee - $3,750
- commission to 1st agent - $1,250
- commission to 2nd agent - $3,675
Am I meant to be charged both facilitation fee and commissions? I thought the facilitation fee only applies if there is one agent 'facilitating' the whole transaction (ie, not representing the buyer or the seller).
Apologies if this is a stupid question and you all got keyword alerts for it. I wasn't able to find an answer elsewhere on the forums or online.
Thanks in advance.
Jeremy.
Those fees add up to just over 7% of the sales price. That's high for commissions. But this comes down to what was in your listing agreement. It could well allow for all these fees. You can push back on anything on the settlement statement. Ask your agent what's going on and why you're being charged these fees.
Thanks very much Jon
