Looking for Guidance on first investment
I'm looking to purchase my first property. I've set my mind on investing in multi - families. I'm having a hard time "pulling the trigger".
A little background of what's going on:
Where I live the multi families are very hard to come by, mostly 2 family. Fairly expensive for the quality that's out there. Most need a significant amount of work and are right around my budget. They don't last long and people are over paying (in my opinion). I see this area really growing within the next ten years do to tourist attractions nearby. I have friends here and my family/work are both 20-30min away. It's going to be a while until I find one I'm willing to pay for.
The other area im looking is right by where I work, near the city. The prices are a lot cheaper and the multi-families are in a lot better shape. There are plenty to chose from. Taxes are double the amount though. The rents are also cheaper in this area so less cash flow. But They are beautiful homes. I'm an hour away from friends and all my relationships and I won't be able to visit family as often.
I guess what I'm asking is for people's experience and opinion. I'm a little nervous of moving and starting a "new" life somewhere else. I could always move back some day? Financially it makes more sense. But I will be completely disconnected from the life I've built over the years back home.
Thank you guys for your time
