I know why ....
I believe I know why I have yet to meet any Canadian "Pro" members.
In a moment of weakness this evening, I clicked on the shiny star and proceeded to fill out the on-line form to upgrade to a "Pro" membership.
I entered my CC info and address, then clicked the "upgrade" button
... BP wandered off into a alley - ostensibly in deep thought - and, 30 seconds or so later, refused to upgrade me to a "Pro" member because it could not validate my "ZIP code".
Since I do not have a "ZIP code" it is quite understandable the BP-machine would be unable to verify it :-)
... so, @Brandon Turner & @Joshua Dorkin the moment's passed ... looks like I'm off the hook.
Roy
BTW: your zip/postal code field is too short and does not allow for the correct entry of a postal code. If your developer would like some help with internationalisation, s/he can drop me a note and I'll endeavour to assist.

Hey @Roy N. - That's not good . . . thanks for calling us out on it. We're on it! (and may take you up on the offer if need be)
@Roy N I'm a Canadian Pro Basic member and my card seems to work fine. Then again I'm in Canada proper (aka Ontario), maybe BP just doesn't accept Newfie cards? Hahaha! Sorry! All in good fun of course. :)
It's strange my card didn't have the zip issue though. Maybe it's just for full Pro accounts. Hope you get it sorted out and become a Pro! My theory behind taking the plunge and opening my wallet is that Josh, Brandon et al won't do the podcast--let alone all the hours they put into the site--for free, so membership is a small price for each member to pay compared to the benefits we all receive.
But whether you go Pro or not I trust you'll stick around and continue with your insightful posts on behalf of and for the benefit of all us Canadians on BP!

Kind comment, but I'm doubtful my comments are that insightful - regardless, BP is probably stuck with me for a while ... and you will remain as possibly the only Canadian BP Pro for a little longer.
... but seriously, you need to come to the Maritimes so we can work on your geography - we're just a little over halfway between you an Newfoundland (as the crow flies).
I lived in southern Ontario back in the 60s/70s and spent a little more time there in the 80s ... and I don't miss it ;-)
Maybe there have been changes to the form since you upgraded your membership? The form submission did not complain about my CC ... it was my postal code it did not like ... but it may have been related to CC verification.
I have a hypothesis about a possible cause, which I will explore later today.
