But , they may not be what you expected  .  I got a call from 1 contractor I know asking if I had a body I could spare for the day for some framing to help a friend of his .  I told them I could make myself available , but I am not walking anything over a 5/12 roof . I show up and find the lead guy .  The first thing out of his mouth was " Looks like they sent us a kid "   Now the dumb thing was he was right , I was the youngest guy there swinging a hammer . The lead guy and owner was 76 , the other 2 were in their mid 60's . AND the crane operator was 70 years old .  These guys have been together 25 years , AND they were not slow .  Took me about 2 hours to get in their groove . At the end of the day on a 30 by 50 foundation , we had floor trusses set , deck on , exterior walls up and 1/2 of the interior walls .

What struck me odd was the crane operator threw on a tool belt . Come to find out the guy also owned the crane . (framers dont gererally buy $250,000 cranes )  I asked him why he didnt just hire a crane when he needed it .  He said that back in the building boom he had 5 crews framing and he got tired of waiting for cranes , so he bought his own .
