Military Investor in Charleston, SC

Hello all,

I'm new to the community, but am excited to start building a network and portfolio.  I'm an Ensign in the Navy headed to Charleston, SC in November for power school (1 year long).  I'm curious if anyone has tips on getting started in real estate investing in the area (good real estate agents and property managers).  I'm looking for places in the 80-150k price range.  My biggest apprehension is the time commitment to real estate investing.  Power School generally lasts the entire working day and does not allow cellphones on base.  I'm wondering, it is a wise idea to start investing if my ability to respond to questions/calls will be severely constrained during normal business hours?  After power school, I'll be deployed for weeks or months with only limited email use.  Should I wait a few years until my shore tour to start real estate investing?

Thanks for the help.
