WHAT LIL WAYNE AKA WEEZY F BABY TAUGHT ME ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP

I am one of those people who sees entrepreneurship as a sport. I am super competitive. In the past, I would question myself when another investor would close on a deal before me. I would question myself and my skillset. Am I doing something wrong? Why did he get a deal faster than I did? I know I'm working harder than he is. I'd constantly beat my self up about this topic.

Oddly enough the answer came from the most unlikely place. Lil Wayne! I’m not saying anymore should look up to lil Wayne as a role model. However, lil Wayne was considered the “best rapper alive” in the mid 2000s . It’s interesting to compare it to how real estate investors and entrepreneurs feel down about ourselves when the next man closes on a deal before us. But lil Wayne only listens to his music and doesn’t even know the new rappers of today. Also, lil Wayne is notorious for not being up to date on current events (that’s why he’s often criticized on saying something insensitive). My point is it’s interesting how weezy got on top by only focusing on his craft and nothing else. He also obviously cut off the news as my mentor often suggest . It’s safe to say that if lil Wayne was a real estate investor he would not be concerned about what other investors are doing he would only be concerned about what he’s currently doing. And would not let his focus be distracted by things like the news . I used to think that mindset was weird but now I get it.

Guess the "F" stands for focus!

Which makes sense because when I call these investors trying to see what they are doing differently. I find out that I can't compare myself to them. They are closing on smaller deals (duplexes). Others are paying market. I even one guy tell me he did not underwrite the deal before purchasing but he knew it was a good deal.

I constantly have to remind myself to be patient... keep working... my day will come!
