BiggerPockets Is Raising Money to Help Families in Need During the Coronavirus Crisis

Every night, one in 30 children in the U.S. goes to bed without a roof over his or her head. But family homelessness is an invisible crisis. Ashamed of their situation, families often sleep in their cars, in motel rooms, or in overcrowded apartments, keeping their struggle a secret.

As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads through the world, millions of Americans are facing unemployment—just as many shelters and churches must close to prevent the further spread of disease.

At BiggerPockets, our mission is to help Americans build wealth and achieve financial freedom through real estate. However, we also know that many families don’t have the basic resources to provide housing for their families, let alone access to resources to learn about financial literacy or wealth-building.

That is why we are starting a fundraiser for Family Promise during this crisis.

Family Promise’s Mission

As the national leader addressing family homelessness, Family Promise knows that shelter and meals alone aren’t the answer. Family Promise approaches this crisis with a holistic program that encompasses all the issues surrounding family homelessness—individualized case management, financial literacy and educational programs, workforce development, health and wellness issues, transportation, and so much more.

Many Family Promise programs are also working overtime to provide additional resources to families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
