Suggestions on exterior paint color

This is the first house where we are going to paint the exterior, and we need to pick a color. It is a flip, and we pretty much did a full renovation on the interior.

I hired a professional painter, but I need to pick a color, and that is not my strong suit.

Original paint color below

Suggestions??

My wife says that she rarely ever recommends light colors for exterior paint, but given that this is a cute little cottage type, a light cream or light yellow might be really nice. White trim with black shutters/door.

That said, you should make sure whatever you decide fits with the neighborhood and the surrounding houses.

A nice navy blue with bright white trim and accents would look good in my opinion but then again, as J Scott mentioned, the neighborhood plays a factor.

Personally kind of like the color it is. Would probably soften it a little bit not that bad IMO.

I tend to think smaller homes look bigger with lighter colors. Light yellow is fairly popular. I like to go with something not seen on street.

On aluminum siding its important to power wash to get the chaulk off. High pressure, high temp. Lower pressure and/or unheated or lower temp you may need a detergent to get all chaulk off. If oxidation still exists after washing use an additive to latex paint. And, if you dont need to prime it, be sure to go with a higher end paint like Sherwin Williams A100. You'll want it sprayed and if painter is good, he may be able to mist coat and flood as he goes and get enough coverage to not need primer or two coats. Flat paint will help keep dents and waves from standing out.

Well.... White is out! I was going to suggest what @J Scott suggested. In fact here is an example of the colors the came to mind. Taken from his website.

J Scott & Donald Hendricks - I like the color scheme that both of you suggested, but I am a little concerned that the brown roof might clash. Especially since it is so visible from the front. What do you guys think?

Well darn... Now I have to match color to house and the roof??? lOL. I think it would look fine, but...

Benjamin Moore paints has a tool you can use to see what it will look like in any color. Upload your pic and play with colors and see what matches the roof.

Keep the paint color, give the exterior a good cleaning and add color through landscaping. Lose the shutters on the front window dormer. If you do decide to paint it, go a shade or two lighter.

In my city, these are the colors that you typically see:

Well we still need to replace the driveway and sidewalks, but that is underway. You can't see the excavator in the backyard in these pictures.

But I wanted to show you guys how the paint turned out.

More pictures to come when the project is finished.

Karen Margrave - Thanks

- Actually I lied about the excavator you can just barely see the arm of the excavator just above the work van

- J Scott - What do you think? I tried to emulate the colors in this flip of yours - http://www.123flip.com/house-pics/the-corn-house-staging-pics-rehab-2/

I picked the siding color "Light Maple", so that the garage vinyl siding will match the house. it came out a little more yellow than beige than I would of liked, but overall I think it came out good.

The paint looks great, nice neutral color but still enough contrast with the trim.

Not to be negative, but how old is that roof? There seem to be a lot of shingles lifting up and it appears to be close to needing replacement. Personally, I would leave the cracked driveway and re-shingle with architectural shingles. But maybe it's better than it looks in the picture.

Chris Calabrese - My inspector told me the roof has 10 years left on it, and I trust his judgement since he is a city building inspector for a neighboring city. The driveway is not optional since the city we are in has flagged it as a Point of Sale violation, and that pretty much means we have to fix it in order to sell it.
