Robins AFB Employees - Don't Drive to RAFB...Take the BiRD

4031In an effort to alleviate parking issues and reduce pollutants, Robins Air Force Base (RAFB) has initiated the Buses into Robins Daily (BiRD) program.  BiRD runs from the Macon Centreplex to RAFB (and return) and costs $3 one-way ($6 bucks round-trip).

Buses into Robins Daily departs Macon at 7 different times in the AM (between 4:45am-8:05am) and retuns 8 times each afternoon (between 2:40pm-6:20pm).  Once on-base the buses stop at 10 different locations.  For a complete BiRD departure/arrival schedule, stop route, and general program details check out the RAFB BiRD pamphlet.

If you work on Robins AFB, and fit a category below, you qualify for BiRD.

  • Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve (active duty)
  • Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve (civilian employees)
  • Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve (NAF employees)

After riding BiRD for one month the fee is reimbursable via the Transportation Incentive Program (TIP).  To sign up for TIP or to receive TIP vouchers, call (478) 926-7199.

4028Also available to ALL base employees is a FREE on-base shuttle service called Round Robins Express.  This program provides service from the Air National Guard parking lot to buildings 300/301 via 2 continuous loops.  There are 7 stops on each route with 2 buses running per route.

Round Robins Express buses run from 5:15am-9am and 2pm-5:30pm Mon-Fri.  For a complete departure/arrival schedule, stop route, and program details check out the RAFB Round Robins Express pamphlet.

Neither service is available during holidays or base sanctioned family days.

Anyone who works, has worked, or frequently visits knows how challenging finding parking can be.  Despite staggered shifts, with nearly 27,000 employees, searching for a parking spot in a "south-40" lot is the norm for many, not the exception.  Both BiRD and Round Robins Express should help ease the congestion and aid with parking issues.
